Tom Ford Eye Color Quad 09 Violet Dusk Swatches, Looks

For someone who loves purple eyeshadows, 09 Violet Dusk was the second choice on my list, right after the all purpose 01 Golden Mink. There is another purple quad among Tom Ford eyeshadow palettes, 04 Crushed Amethyst, but that one is duller and more reddish, not as appealing to me as Violet Dusk.

Packaging includes a brown velvet sleeve to protect the palette case.

I love the golden name plate, so luxurious looking!

Under indirect light from the window. There is one glittery shade in the upper left, one near matte in the lower left, two iridescent shades on the right side. With a total of 3 textures in one compact, Violet Dusk is ready to go from work to fun anytime!

A closer look at the shades.

Macro photo of the glittery upper left shade. There are tons of fine glitter but nothing that looks childish. This is sophisticated glitter that shines without looking garish.

Lower left shade. Although it looked matte at first but upon closer inspection, you can see small iridescent particles in this shade. It still applies matte on the lid though, but I suspect the iridescence help with pigmentation and blendability.

Lower right shade, another iridescent one, same texture as the upper right one, just darker.

All four shades swatched on my arm. The first shade is great for highlighting specific parts of the eye or for a sheer wash of shimmer all over the lid. The second shade is great as the main lid color. The third shade can be used to darken the crease or outer corner. The last shade works great as an eyeliner with the help of the thin sponge applicator.

Comparing the lighter shades to Urban Decay, Laura Mercier, and Stila. The texture of the glittery shade is very similar to Stila Jewel eyeshadow. UD Grifter and LM Baked Lilac are not as glittery.

Comparing the darker shades of Violet Dusk to Urban Decay shades. Rockstar came pretty close to the darkest shade in Violet Dusk but a little too reddish. Otherwise, there is no dupe here.

The quality of Tom Ford 09 Violet Dusk is very high, the eyeshadows have great pigmentation, no fallout even the glittery one. They are also easy to blend and last for many hours on a primer. The colors work together very well to create a lovely vibrant purple look that isn't too dramatic for daily wear. For someone with NC15 skintone, this quad complements my complexions very well, and I expect it to work for a lot of people because it has very pigmented shades and is not overly cool nor warm. Overall, highly recommended!
